[FIX] Baldur's Gate 2 Save Game Failed, Do You Wish to Quit? 1

I recently installed gog.com's Baldur's Gate 2 in Linux Mint 15 using Wine, but I ran into some issues when I tried to save the game. The message I kept getting was "Baldur's Gate 2 Save Game Failed, Do You Wish to Quit?"

To fix this, just don't use the desktop icon. You can either open a terminal and run

wine ~/.wine/drive_c/GOG\ Games/Baldur\'s\ Gate\ 2/BGMain.exe

or you can use your distribution's file browser and navigate to the "~/.wine/drive_c/Baldur's Gate 2/" folder, then right-click BGMain.exe and choose to "Run with Wine...".

Please let me know in the comments if you have any other trouble fixing this issue on your machine.

    Hi Augustine,

I too have similar problem to this. I have Baldur's Gate 2 Complete edition from gog.com and have been installing the game with playonlinux on Linux Mint 17.1. For the couple first hours, the game runs perfectly and i can't be more satisfied. But then i encounter my first "save game failed" error in Aerie's tent. Never been able to save my game since then.

I have tried your advice, but unfortunately the BGmain.exe in my directory is already choosen to run with Wine. I also have tried another advice from several forums on the internet (delete Temp folder, uninstall & reinstall, install the game using linux native installer from gog). None of the above provide a solution to this problem. It's weird isn't it?

Do you have any other ideas, Augustine? Any help will be much appreciated, thanks in advance.
